Sense of Place

In this collection, I explore the concept of 'home' that extends far beyond mere geographical boundaries. I use topographic maps to depict the layers of my identity rooted in Bermuda, St. Vincent, and the Azores. Jade relates to my middle name and the green hues represent the warmth of these landscapes with each island hand carved from nephrite jade and jadeite slabs. Sargassum seaweed weaves through my pieces as it does through my three island homes symbolizing the connection and togetherness of these places that define me. The golden metal relates to the traditional and cultural family jewelry that adorns me every day. Each element mirrors the comforting and soothing hues of home.
